My wife really loved her 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, but we needed a vehicle with four doors and more room. We started looking at four-door vehicles, and I suggested a Bravada. I love the S-series trucks, and the Bravada is an upscale S-series SUV with all-wheel drive. I liked the idea of AWD -- 4WD would be fine but we would probably almost never use it, so at least with AWD I get the benefits of the hardware all the time. Heck, if I have to feed it more fuel to carry that extra weight, I want it to earn its keep :)

We started looking at various four-door cars, and Gina didn't really want an Impala or Grand Prix (my other suggestions, since the Impala or GP would have been very much like her Monte). She considered a Malibu but smaller wasn't really a good fit. We found a '99 Bravada at a local Toyota dealer (the same one that sold me my Z24) and we struck a deal.
